On August 16, 1945 Hiroshima was leveled when an atomic bomb was dropped on the city. The
Hiroshima "A-bomb Dome" serves as a memorial to the thousands who died that day and in the years that followed.

Our trip here was a whirlwind, so I didn't have any time to visit the museum or other monuments that are right across the river. The epicenter of the bomb is off to the right of this picture about a block from where this photo was taken.
